Morning Program: Musical Theater Workshop On Broadway!

Instructional material highlights Broadway favorites, featuring roles of young performers in famous shows. Expand your performance repertoire in a fun environment as you build your confidence and stage presence. Be part of a unique hands-on experience, as you develop your skills and creativity, and present a musical performance to showcase your talent. You're the star of the show!

Learning objectives for "Musical Theater Workshop: On Broadway!"

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Perform music and vocal selections from well-known musical theater repertoire
  • Demonstrate acquired skills: dance/movement/choreography
  • Exhibit knowledge of musical theater repertoire and historical background of artistic material
  • Demonstrate greater understanding of professional skills needed in any career in this general field
  • Exhibit poise and professionalism through interpersonal relationships
  • Demonstrate effective public speaking and oral interpretation skills
  • Understand the importance of working with others, teamwork on and off the stage
  • Demonstrate usage of creative expression through performing
  • Interpret scripts using effective emotional and creative expression, as well as basic improvisational skills

Instructors Ashley and Kristen Pettet are professional performers from Broadway, movies and television, and they are alumni of William Paterson University!

Afternoon Program: Examine That Text Closely

Examine that Text Closely is designed for students who would like to sharpen their ‘detective reading skills.’ Close reading is an instructional routine in which students critically examine a text, especially through repeated readings. Throughout this course, students will receive the necessary tools to examine any text. At the end of this one week intensive course, students will have the opportunity to design their very own bookmark and brochure, which will highlight and explain the steps to become an active close reader.
