Songwriting and Music Industry Camp 7/18-7/22/16

Study songwriting and the business of the music industry from industry pros and William Paterson University faculty members. This summer camp will include: the art of songwriting; the art of lyric writing; creativity and the creative process; song promotion; powerful pop chord progressions; song structure; writing to a track; the creative life; performance rights organizations; recording companies; contracts; social media’s role in the music and entertainment industry.  The program will end at noon on Friday.

Rock Band Experience 7/25-7/29/2016

Get Ready to Rock! Highlight include rehearsing with a band under the guidance of professionals, recording a CD, and performing a concert.  There are also workshops on the history of rock and the music business. Meet other musicians your age and create lasting memories playing the music you love.

Campers will be involved in all aspects of being in a band from writing songs and practicing, to performing and learning about the music business. Rehearsing songs as a group and working together is stressed and is an important aspect of the camp. 

By the end of the week students will gain a better understanding of what it takes to be in a band and the dedication, practice and hard work that goes along with it. Students will record the songs on the last day of the camp in the studio and will receive a copy of the CD shortly after the camp is completed.

Students Final Performance: On the Saturday evening following the camp, students will have the opportunity to perform at well-known venue and play on a professional stage with full sound and lighting systems. A DVD of the performance will be available as well. . Special guest appearances are in the works so stay tuned.
