Children and Stress 4/12/16

According to the American Psychological Association, one third of children report feeling stressed, 30 percent experience regular headaches, engage in “cutting” or other self-destructive behaviors, and almost 40 percent have difficulty sleeping.  Dr. Khanna will review the common causes of stress in children, identify both the physical and behavioral signs of “stress overload” and offer age appropriate strategies to manage stress. She will ways for teachers to create a calm classroom and school environment, regulate “high stress” times in the school year and discuss signs that indicate the need for professional intervention.
