How's my child doing? A Communication Tool to Guide Interactions with the Spanish-speaking Parent

K-8 classroom teachers

What’s the protocol for effective progress reporting to parents who don’t speak English? This workshop will establish guidelines for interacting with parents and responding to their inquiries. It will facilitate reporting by elementary classroom teachers who speak little to no Spanish.  Teachers will leave with instrument that will guide them in communicating student progress. While a translator may still be needed, following the protocol will enhance the experience for  all and lead to culturally sensitive communication.
