Cross Country Camp - August 3 - August 7

Cross Country Camp

Cross Country is a fall sport.  For that reason it is imperative to build a solid foundation during the summer. Most cross country athletes are told by their coaches to make sure that they do some summer running. But what does that really mean?
There are two types of running; aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic running focuses on a relaxed breathing technique and encourages athletes to work on form. Anaerobic running falls under the category of restricted air, which pertains to hard workouts such as interval training. The key to being a successful cross country athlete relies on the ability of being able to properly balance these two types of running methods.

Program Objectives:
Our one week intensive training regimen will expose our campers to:
• Long aerobic runs
• Fartlek sessions
• Threshold training
• Repetition training (Hill Running)
• Strides at goal pace
• Interval Training
• Competition (Last Day of Camp)

Special Group/Team Rate:  School Districts can inquire about sending their Cross Country Track Team for a special group rate to participate in William Paterson University’s Cross County Camp.  If you are interested in a Special Group/Team Rate, please contact Alma Diaz at DiazA6@wpunj.edu or 973-720-3804.
