Teaching with Staying Power:Helping Students Retain What They Learn 12/2/20(PDS Schools Only)
Audience: Teachers in grades 4-12
Description: According to the primacy/recency effect, we retain best that which is presented at the beginning (primacy) and the end (recency) of a learning episode. This has implications for the way that we structure our lessons. In this workshop, we will explore how the brain learns and the strategies that we can apply to teach effectively, particularly in the areas of lesson opening (bell ringers) and lesson closure.
