Teach Less and Learn More: Multiplication and Division Concepts, Big Ideas, and Fluency Development

Target Audience: Grades 3 to 5

Description: In this session teachers will learn how to help students understand multiplication and division concepts and how to help students to develop fact fluency. In addition, teachers will learn multiplication and division’s connection to middle school mathematics such as proportional relationships, proportion, ratio, and rate. The session also includes how to use models to help students to understand standard algorithms for multi-digit multiplication and division calculation processes.
