Sustainable Value Creation 5/9 - 6/24/2022

Course Description

The Sustainable Value Creation course is an accelerated 7-week entrepreneurship online training program to help participants who have or would like to open a business to develop their business models by aligning their economic, social, and environmental goals. This course is possible through a collaboration between the Center for Socially Responsible Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CSREI), the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and the School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCPE) at William Paterson University. During the 7-week online program, participants will have opportunities to:

• Attend online advisory sessions with an entrepreneurship consultant who serves as the course instructor to develop their business models with economic, social, and environmental goals, while assessing innovation and differentiation opportunities derived from sustainability strategies;
• Attend online advisory sessions with WPU’s Small Business Development Center consultant to legally incorporate their new businesses;
• Attend online advisory sessions with a website consultant to develop their own websites for their businesses showing social responsibility goals.

Participant Learning Outcomes

By the end of the 7-week online program, participants should be able to:

• Develop business models with economic, social, and environmental goals
• Formulate practices for their businesses that create value for diverse stakeholders
• Design practices for their businesses that are profitable and environmentally sustainable
• Formulate practices for their businesses that are profitable and socially inclusive
• Evaluate how their business practices align with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals
• Assess innovation and differentiation opportunities derived from sustainability strategies
• Generate content about their businesses’ social responsibility goals for display on their websites
