Start the Music: A Creative Musical Experience for Young Musicians 7/13-7/17/15

Start the Music is a one-week program that guides young musicians on a path to creative self-expression and savvy musical engagement. Each day, students will expand their rhythmic skills by performing in an Afro-Latin percussion ensemble. They fine-tune their musicianship by singing pop, Gospel, Latin, and jazz music, while incorporating the use of social media as a tool for concert promotion. Camp students will receive small group instrumental or vocal instruction. All students will perform in a final concert on Friday, July 17th at 5:00 p.m. Unlike most music camps that only focus on technique, Start the Music covers the whole 21st century musical experience.

The Start the Music camp will provide one snack per day for every student. Parents must provide a lunch for their students each day. 

Students must be entering 4th grade in the fall through entering 9th grade in the fall. Students older or younger will not be eligible for the camp.
