Reducing Classroom Behavior Problem and Power Struggles 10/08/2015

All Teachers, Counselors, Administration, Child Study Team

In this workshop we will examine the causes of behavior and the value of depersonalizing our involvement with behavior. We will discuss consequences, “positivity”, praise, social connection in the classroom and therapeutic strategies. We will look at “tweaking” behavior vs. “squashing” it. There will be two role playing behavior scenarios that the group will generate and examine. The workshop will refer to “Positive Discipline” by Jane Nelson and several current books, “Flourish” by Seligman, “Social” by Lieberman, and “Hold Onto Your Kids” by Neufeld.
