If They Can Spell It, They Can Read It
Grade K-3 classroom teachers
In the rush to literacy, the significance of developmental spelling is often overlooked. In this workshop, participants will learn how to build a child’s literacy skills through wordy study. They will learn to score a very simple assessment that will diagnose each learner’s precise spelling stage. Activities such as word sorts and games will be modeled by the presenters and created by the participants to support the learning at each stage. Attendees will leave with materials to use in their classroom that will move students along the spelling continuum and improve their literacy skills in the process.
