How Do You Build Global Awareness In the Elementary and Secondary Classroom? 11/15/17

Target Audience: Teachers and Administrators

Description: This interactive workshop will share insights from a one month pre-service/in-service teacher global educational experience provided by a Fulbright-Hays travel grant to Israel this past summer . The goals of the workshop are to build global education competencies by discussing:

1)     Pedagogies foe emergent bilingual learners

2)     Reading images/visual literacy to augment comprehensive fiction and non-fiction texts

3)     Interdisciplinary social studies, language arts and science lessons to address social justice issues

4)     Civic engagement though technology between local and global communities

Through first-hand experiences, the instructors will provide exemplar practices from select global partnerships that can be modified and made applicable for diverse elementary and secondary classrooms .
