4H Junior Scientist (7th grade and up) 7/3-7/7/17

Wiring a House (Monday/Wednesday)
Building structures that relate to their own lives and experiences engage youth imagination and offer a medium for all kinds of group work and negotiation. In Wiring a House, youth combine two areas of play—building structures and experimenting with electricity—and, in the process, learn practical rules of electrical wiring and the foundational principles of electricity. Whether they subsequently revisit these topics in formal educational settings or encounter them in their own lives, their experience with this wiring a House project will provide them with an understanding of, knowledge about, and context for this important topic.

Rockets to the Rescue (Thursday/Friday) 
Rockets to the Rescue is an engaging activity that gives young scientists an opportunity to let their imagination take flight and explore how aerospace engineering addresses real-world problems, such as delivering food and supplies in emergency situations. Participants will apply lessons in science, math, and physics to design and build an aerodynamic Food Transportation Device (FTD) that can deliver a payload to the desired target using different trajectories.
