Save the Date: The Conocimiento Experience: Student Conference on Belonging and Community Organizing


Please save the date! The second annual Conocimiento Experience: Student Conference on Belonging and Community Organizing will be on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 in the UC MPR.  In our first pilot during the onset of the COVID -19 pandemic, we launched this experience virtually and are excited to bring this experience to campus! Details of sponsors and session descriptions will be forthcoming in the Spring. This experience will offer an arc of learning across all disciplines and student development. Students can RSVP on Pioneer Life.  Class participation and opportunities for extra credit welcomed. 

Description:

The Conocimiento Experience: Student Conference on Belonging and Community Organizing. THREE PART Schedule Itinerary:  12:30 p.m. – 1:50 p.m. |  2:00 – 3:15 p.m. | and 3:30 – 5:45 p.m.

Conocimiento is a practice that was articulated by Gloria E. Anzaldua’s as a framework to understand identity formation and critical consciousness of cultural resiliency used by Latina/o/x activists.  Through interactive sessions, participants will gain insight into the historical context of Latina/o/x identity, decolonization, and will generate critical consciousness through relationships with themselves and each other. This experience is open to all students regardless of identity and or in terms of political activism. This  experience is eligible for credit towards the Social Justice Leadership Badge. **There are breaks scheduled in this experience, participation in all sessions encouraged but not required.
