Marilyn Taub, co-founder and board member, of The Henry and Marilyn Taub Foundation, will accept William Paterson University’s Distinguished Organization Legacy Award at this year’s event on behalf of the foundation.

Henry Taub (1927-2011) was born and raised in Paterson, NJ. The son of immigrants, he was educated in the public schools and went on to be the first in his family to graduate from college. In 1949, he founded a small business in Paterson called Automatic Payrolls. That firm grew into Automatic Data Processing (ADP), which is now one of the largest providers of business outsourcing solutions, serving businesses in more than 125 countries.

In 1967, Henry and his wife Marilyn established The Henry and Marilyn Taub Foundation. In addition to Marilyn, foundation board members are Judy Taub Gold, Ira Taub and Steven Taub. The Taub Foundation has made significant contributions to William Paterson University and supports the education of students through its scholarships and grants.

The foundation’s long-held interests are in strengthening the community, enhancing education, and supporting health research. A continuing focus of the organization is on local communities in Bergen and Passaic counties, and in areas with the greatest needs, including Henry Taub’s hometown of Paterson. The foundation also supports medical research, with a focus on Alzheimer’s disease and Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), organizations with historic ties to the foundation and causes that reflect the family’s values.

Supporting William Paterson University’s Mission
William Paterson University’s College of Education has received grant funding from The Henry and Marilyn Taub Foundation to develop programs in response to community needs. With this support, the University’s College of Education provides Professors in Residence to high-need schools that, in turn, gives children the high-quality education they deserve. In addition, The Taub Foundation supports training that gives paraprofessionals in Passaic and Bergen counties an opportunity to complete their education and help close the shortage gap of qualified preschool teachers.

The Henry and Marilyn Taub Foundation made its most significant investment in the future of William Paterson’s students pledging $1 million in 2015 to establish the Henry Taub Scholars Program. This donation marked the largest single gift specifically for scholarships in William Paterson University history. This scholarship fund provided critical support for students demonstrating financial need. In 2019, The Taub Foundation generously provided a renewal $1 million grant to continue its support of The Henry Taub Scholars Program.
